There are not a whole lot of words to describe the roller coaster, self discovery time of life some call our twenties. The best I can put it today, is it’s like standing at the edge of the ocean … some days the tide is up and the water brings life and energy and other times there’s nothing. The truth that I’ve found is that enjoying each moment as it is, not worrying about the future or regretting the past is what it’s all about. And sometimes it’s the in between that brings the greatest gifts.

Life will always have things to throw at us that can shake us to our core, and it will always have things that make us feel on top of the world. I believe that a truly confident life is one where, as long as you have a fundamental understanding of who you are and what matters to you, both of those things are equally valid.
The trick, as you seem to have found, is to work out what gets in the way (the ‘shoulds’, the ‘oughts’, the ‘musts’, the impossible expectations, etc, etc) and work to strip them away.
What’s left is the gold.
Excellent metaphor and very well said. Gotta love our twenties…
