GenPink is short for “Generation Pink”. GenPink will be the ramblings and insights of living life as a twenty something working woman.
Let’s just start with how this idea came to me. I am an idea person. Quite frequently I find myself coming up with new ideas about this or that. Most of the time I will share my fabulous idea with a friend. Usually that idea never comes to fruition because it is soon replaced by a bigger and better idea. Well the idea for GenPink came to me a few days ago and for some reason this one stuck (at least for now).
The idea manifested from my love of technology and my interest in the vast knowledge of the web. I am forever finding some new site that I absolutely love. Some of those sites I become interested in and don’t share with my friends (most of my friends are not as nerdy as me). There is the occasional site that I find that I think it just too great to pass up and I take a few moments to write up a little blurb (hey guys I found this fun site) then I send it out mass email to my friends. For some reason rarely are they as excited as me.
Instead of barraging my friends with all my great findings of fun little sites here and there I decided to create a blog. This will accomplish a few things.
- I meet new people with similar interests
- All of my random findings will be stored in once place
- I can stop pestering me friends (probably not though)
So lets start small. Here is a list of my favorite fun websites that I believe make my life easier.
- del.icio.us – This is a great way to save your favorite websites all in one place. You can use tags to keep everything organized. I am constantly changing from 3 different computers and I love that no matter where I am I can have access to my favorites. I am so diverse that the amount of bookmarks and categories (tags) I have is a bit ridiculous. Another fun thing is you can network with people and send them a link that you think they might be interested in.
- evite – Everyone who knows me knows I am in love with evite. I’m not sure what there is to say about evite other than you should register and create your address book with groups so that sending invitations is speedy.
- Cool Site of the Day – The title pretty much says it all. I am on their email list, so every day I get some random “cool” site emailed to me. Some of them are better than others.
- 9rules – I’m not really sure how to describe this site so here is their about us – “9rules is a place where members and readers can connect, build relationships, gain exposure, learn new things, and have fun.”
I don’t want to give away all my material on my first post so I will leave more for later.
Leave me some comments. What topics would you like to discuss?
GenPink: From reading your about page, I got an idea that we could start a thread on how to handle work stress/family stress. Like stress relieving techniques. :)
MK Rules: That is an interesting idea. I could definetly see a topic coming from that angle.
I just came to support your blog and tell you it looks wonderful since I
saw it on MK Rules blog. I support anything she supports!!
I would like to see some topics on how single moms get babysitters and how they get a support system when they are in business. Im not a single mom but I feel we need to address that group.
Is there a way to make it so we can log in and not have to put info each time? Also, can you make a recent comments tab in the sidebar?
I agree with the stress reliever sites… In addition to ways to relieve it now, like: “ya had a bad day at work? go to this site to have a laugh and relieve some stress!”
I love your sites theme, it has to be one of the prettiest ones out there. Actually, most blogs have nofollow comments built into them. In order to make it so that your comments “follow”, all you have to do is install a plugin, here’s a really long list that I didn’t write but someone else did of nofollow plugins http://andybeard.eu/2007/02/ultimate-list-of-dofollow-plugins-banish-nofollow-from-comments-and-trackbacks.html
Hi there! I’m visiting by way of 9rules. I saw a note you posted, and got here by way of your profile. Also, I noticed you’re in Addison, TX. I’m in Dallas. I like what your site is/will be about, and I’ll be sure to visit often. Take care!
