Pimples always seem to “pop” up when you have something major happening in your life. School picture day, corporate job interview, wedding ceremony, milestone birthday – none of these events are enjoyable with a big blemish on your face. If you find yourself staring down at a zit days before a big date, there are some simple steps you can take to potentially get rid of the problem. Here are some tips to help you out.
Microderm Right Away
The first thing you need to do is to go over your skin with a microdermabrasion tool. This will get rid of the outermost layer of your skin, which could contain many of the irritants causing your pimple(s). Microderm will encourage new skin cells to grow in place of the old ones, which will make your skin look at lot smoother overall. Doing this will prevent other pimples from forming and potentially reduce the one you have. The best part is that you can do this right at home.
Suffocate the Pimple
If you deny the pimple oxygen, you will force it to go away. You could do this with a dab of toothpaste on the spot or even a drop of clear fingernail polish. Some companies make products that are specifically designed to do this, but you don’t have to use anything extreme. Just cover the surface long enough for the pimple to shrink, and keep the area around it clean.
Pop the Head
If you see a white head forming on the surface, you need to pop it right away. This is probably going to hurt, but it will release the biggest part of the pimple. After that, you will need to leave the area open so it can “dry out” and heal. The sooner you pop the head, the less damage you will experience.
Cover the Remnants
If you have a little bit of the pimple left whenever you go on your date, just cover it with concealer and mineral makeup. You may have to do a quick touchup in the bathroom midway through the date, but at least this way you will be able to minimize how noticeable the blemish is. If the pimple goes away before the night is over, that’s even better.
Dealing with zits is never easy, but you can try to control them before big events. Use the tips above the next time you have an unexpected volcano on your face, and you’ll be able to conquer the world in style.
