Confession: I’m Tweezer Challenged
While, I don’t have the Bert eyebrows going on I realized around the age of 17 or 18 that I could not tweeze for the life of me but knew my brows could use a little TLC. Naturally, I turned to my friends for advice and they directed me towards their favorite hair removal methods. One of my good friends, Laura, introduced me to waxing and for the past 10 years i’ve been waxing my eyebrows to keep them in check. I never even thought about venturing away from this path or even considering being more adventurous with my hair removal methods. Well, at least until I became a big-city girl and decided to stop being a hair unadventurous (you see what I did there? ) when it came to alternative removal methods.
I’m sure most of you have come across one of those places in the mall where the woman look like they are performing some type of surgery using string. At least, that is what it looks like to me. I’ve been intrigued by what they were doing for a solid 2 years now but me being a creature of habit, continued with waxing. I just didn’t understand what threading was or how it worked. How do they remove hair on my eyebrows using 2 pieces of thread and I can’t even pluck 1 hair using 2 pieces of metal specifically formed for that exact function- hair removal.
Recently, I moved to Dallas, Tx. Where I was reunited with my high school friend, Laura, who initially introduced me to waxing. Luckily, I had her to introduce me to the city and every girl knows a good salon and hair removal place. So I asked for suggestions. Thinking waxing was still the way to go, I was pleasantly surprised when she said she got her eyebrows threaded at a great place in Uptown called Wink. She said it was so much better on her sensitive skin and that I had to give it a try. Despite being a hair unadventurous in the past, I was willing to give it a shot.
I have to be honest, it hurt. I cringed some at the much different feeling of the threading but it was over in a matter of 3 minutes and oh did my brows look awesome! It feels like the threads are giving your brows a very close shave but they are actually removing the entire hair follicle in a skin-friendlier method. They also told me that it is excellent for “trouble” eyebrows. It is a much more precise way to shape brows. I think my favorite part about my threading experience was the fact that my skin around my brows the next day was not puffy and red like it normally was after waxing. That aspect alone sold me on threading. Really showed me how much better threading was on my skin and ladies we all know the skin around our eyes is a delicate area we want to protect from damage!
Now, if I have convinced any GenPink readers to stop be a hair unadventurous and give this hair removal method a try, then you’re in luck! We’ve partnered with WINK Threading Salon to give one lucky reader the chance to give threading a try! WINK has three locations, Dallas, Fort Worth and Austin.
I love Wink & I’d love to win!
Hm, what’s new that I want to try… Maybe going for an ombre look with my color. I’ve been keeping it pretty natural lately.
I just checked out their site too, and their prices are GREAT! I might just head over there and give them a try! Thanks for the recommendation. :)
