The fashion experts have spoken, and the mask is definitely the accessory du jour for 2020!
One of our favorite local organizations in DFW, Fashion Group International (FGI) Dallas has set up a beautiful exhibit at Galleria Dallas. Called Fashion Meets Mask, this exhibit features over 50 face masks created by local and national celebrities. The colorful array of face coverings was designed by a wide variety of luminaries, including designers such as local designer Venny Etienne, who gained renown as a contestant on Bravo’s Project Runway and for his glam gold jacket featured in Beyonce’s “Black is King” video, and Dame Zandra Rhodes, the British designer who has clothed everyone from Diana, Princess of Wales to Freddy Mercury. Visual artists ranging from Jeremiah Onifade to Lea Fisher have submitted works. Additional masks have been created by celebs ranging from actresses Linda Gray and Morgan Fairchild to athletes like Troy Aikman and Darryl Johnston.
In addition to celebrating the creativity and innovation of our design community, Fashion Meets Mask also serves as a valuable fundraiser to assist in the scholarship program offered by FGI. Each year, the Dallas chapter provides over $60,000 in scholarship funds. Interested bidders can either use the QR code onsite at the exhibition or visit their website to bid on the individual masks.
Proceeds from the sale of those masks will benefit the Fashion Group Foundation of Dallas, a 501(c)3 which provides scholarships to fashion design and fashion merchandising students across North Texas and the region. Check out the exhibit on Level One at Galleria Dallas throughout November.
