GenPink Picks: Cocktails, Food and Mad Men!

New Tequila in Texas

Peligroso, one of the fastest growing tequilas in the US, just hit the Texas market. This is exciting for me because a) I live in Texas and b) I looove margartias and other tequila-based drinks. Peligroso hails from Orange Country and was launched two years ago. I definitely plan on purchasing a bottle to share with my friends this weekend!

Calling all ladies

To continue the tequila talk, this product really caught my eye. Clase Azul Tequila released a new tequila for the ladies. La Pinta is a pomegranate-infused tequila. Pomegranate is one of my favorite fruits, so I’m sure this drink would taste fabulous. And, Clase Azul’s bottles are really decorative and pretty!

Love Mad Men?

As an avid fan of the TV show Mad Men, I wanted to share this cookbook with GenPink readers. The Unofficial Mad Men Cookbook features more than 70 recipes from the kitchens, restaurants and bars seen on Mad Men. Every dish or cocktail has a reference to an episode. So if you want to dine like Don Draper and flashback to the 1960’s, I highly suggest picking up this book!

Eating Healthy

Quinoa is one of the latest crazes in the cooking world right now. It’s a “superfood” that is rich in protein, iron, fiber and other vitamins. Quinoa Cuisine is a new cookbook featuring 150 recipes that really takes quinoa in a new creative way. This book highlights food from healthy breakfasts to desserts. Some of the recipes to look for are Grilled Pizza, Biscuits and Gravy, Fried Green Tomato Salad and Crab Cakes. If you are looking for healthy options, this book should be on your list!

Cooling Off

I’m looking forward to the summer season, but it’s going to get really hot. Especially in Texas! What better way to cool off than with frozen treats? Slushed!: More Than 150 Frozen, Boozy Treats for the Coolest Happy Hour Ever is THE book to have around when hosting summer parties. Some of the recipes included are Blackberry Limoncello Sorbet, Chocolate Martini Pudding Pop and Amaretto Ice Cream Sandwiches. I’m pumped to try out the recipes once triple-digit weather hits!

From Garden to Glass

This next book puts a new twist on cocktails. Edible Cocktails gathers your fresh garden foods and fruits and turns them into tasty drinks. Some of the appetizing drinks are Lavender Gin Sour and Basil Grass Lemon Drop. These drinks will be fresh, local and handmade. It’s the perfect excuse to visit your local farmer’s market too. I think I’ll have a lot of fun creating fresh drinks for my friends with this book!
