As the weather transitions, so should your skin care. Whether you’re putting your best face forward with some game day face paint, a bold Fall makeup, or going all out with a Halloween look it’s important to take care of your skin along the journey.
This Halloween, I thought it would be fun to find a few costume staples and turn them into multiple costumes.
The supplies:
- fun fake lashes
- green face makeup
- Olay Fresh Effects to keep my skin breakout free before & after said green makeup
- velvet purple cape
- long black dress
- two different hats to complete the separate looks
In all my years of Halloween costume planning, I haven’t done a green faced look. So, I find it amusing that I found two costumes that give me an excuse for a full-face of out of the ordinary makeup. My skin is fairly sensitive, so I know it will be important to take care of my skin on the days leading up to Halloween. I can’t imagine I’d be able to find any green concealer so I want a clean canvas to work with.
Halloween Weekend : Game Plan
To start I plan to wash my face the night before with Olay Fresh Effects {Acne Control Scrub!} Salicylic Acid Acne Cleanser. No matter what costume you decide on, we all know breakouts are not in the plans. I’ll also use the Olay Fresh Effects {Dew Over!} Hydrating Gel Moisturizer and let it stay overnight.
Since Halloween festivities likely won’t start until late in the day, I’ll use Olay Fresh Effects {As Fresh As New!} Exfoliating Wet Cloths to remove the regular makeup I wear for work.
After my face is clean and dry I want to give a moisture base so the makeup doesn’t dry my skin out. I can use the same Hydrating Gel Moisturizer from the night before.
For the green face. I’m using a generic costume face paint I purchased from Ulta.
After the green foundation is set, I’ll glam up the eyes with liquid liner, smokey shadow, mascara, and a dark lip.
Look 1 and Look 2 are actually very similar. The main differences are the accessories. Here are the look reveals, I plan to wear one of each for Halloween weekend – Friday & Saturday night respectively.
Look 1: Me as Elphie from Wicked – witch hat, green face, dark eye liner, dark flowing dress, purple cape and black lipgloss.
Look 2: Me as Maleficent from Sleeping Beauty – Vinyl hat, green & purple smokey shadow, dark eye liner, flowing dress, purple cape, and purple lips.
Having never gone green faced before, after the fact I know I will want a face wash that can help get every last bit of color off. It’s one thing to go all out for Halloween, it’s a whole ‘nother story to try to start November green-faced.
