I was sitting at work listening to the radio when I heard the weirdest advertisement I have heard in a while. I immediately jumped on Google to make sure I heard this correctly.
Six Flags theme park is running a promotion to have seven weddings at 7 a.m. on July 7, 2007 (aka the infamous 7/7/07). If you haven’t already heard 7/7/07 has turned into a huge wedding market.
7/7/07′ is a day many consider to be the luckiest day of the century, and because traditional chapels and other formal venues are already booked solid given the incredible nationwide demand to marry on that day, Six Flags was inspired to create a unique event that will give many couples a truly memorable way to celebrate,” said Mike Antinoro, Six Flags Executive Vice President of Entertainment and Marketing. “It’s not every bride and groom who can say they recited their ‘I do’s’ alongside a dolphin, at the top of a 200 ft. roller coaster or inside spinning teacups.
They are calling this Thrilled Ever After – A Wedding to Remember. This is certainly very creative but just seems so strange. And also, today is June 5 and they started running these ads yesterday. I think 1 month notice is a bit to drive-thru Vegas wedding for me. Maybe I am missing something. According to their press release some couples are opting to renew their vows for a chance to participate.
Uh yeah! I agree with you, TOO much Elvis walking me down the aisle in Vegas- kinda thing. ridiculous!
I hope the rollercoaster is not a reflection of the marriage
Oh, I’m so jealous. I have the iPod shuffle too, but I bought it just weeks before they decided to expand it to different colors instead of just the silver. So now I’m stuck with silver, and I’m drooling over the blue and orange very time I visit Best Buy. Darn Apple.
