So, here’s a random question for ya… what did your room look like when you were in high school?

Apparently my content curating skills started at age 14, when I started filling the walls of my downstairs bedroom in the condo I lived in with my mother. I had every inch of blank wall covered in movie posters, various ads, and full page fashion features from my favorite magazines.

  •  The inside of the door had cut-outs of random celebrities
  •  The ceiling donned movie posters that’d I’d acquired by making friends with a guy who worked at a movie theater. As soon as the new posters were put in their frames I got to pick from the recent retired ones before they were discarded
  •  The wall closest to my bathroom was plastered with beauty ads. These were mostly nail polish but a I did have a few with funky designs for things like colored mascara. {apparently that’s popular again}
  •  For the larger walls next to my bed I had them broken up in sections:
    • One area was full of Delia’s catalog clippings of outfits on my wish-list.
    • Another VERY large portion of the wall was covered in “Got Milk” ads. If you’re a child of the 90s I know you remember those. I often flipped through magazines as Half Priced Books to see if I could find a better celebrity for my Got Milk wall.

I lived in this shiny papered room from age 14-17. If I had a few spare hours I’d tackle the box of photos in my office that hopefully holds at least one picture of that room that I loved so much. I hadn’t thought of high school, or that room, for quite some time until I got the most awesomely random email this week.

got milk ads: simpsons, friends, sarah michelle gellar

In the 7 years since the launch of Genpink I have had the pleasure of working with various companies and brands. For a while there I got myself into a ring of working with car brands. So, I knew in order for you guys to understand just how excited I was to get an email to be a Milk Mustache Ambassador, that you needed to know the story of my high school room and my Got Milk wall! I’m pretty convinced that my magazine covered walls led me to pick Graphic Design as a major, which of course got me started working on the land of the Internet, and GenPink, and my current job as a Digital Strategist! Maybe I owe my current success to whoever came up with the original “Got Milk” campaign?

Over the next few weeks, as a newly appointed Milk Mustache Ambassador (yippie!), I get the pleasure of sharing Milk’s latest marketing campaigns with you.

Here’s a little background info for you:

  • There is a series of videos that live on TV and Youtube. The series is called Protein Fight Club. I think they are hilarious, and something about the concept as a whole reminds me of the “Will it Blend?” videos.
  • The purpose of the breakfast battles is to showcase how milk’s high-quality protein can help you win each day. I had no idea an 8 oz. glass of milk has 8 grams of protein. Did you?
  • Every minute, someone will free a free gallon on milk!
  • One winner PER week will win free milk for a year! (that’s a LOT of milk, y’all)

This is my currently favorite of the videos Milk vs Breakfast Burrito:

You can view the rest of the videos on Milk Mustache YouTube channel:  MilkMustacheCampaign

Take the Protein Fight Club Pledge and share this graphic on your Facebook, Twitter, or Pinterest, and of course start you day with a Protein Powerhouse glass of milk!
