Have you gotten into the latest fitness and sports craze of paddleboading? Well how about doing YOGA on a Stand Up Paddleboard (SUP)?? For anyone wanting to try a familiar sport in a different fashion, I definitely recommend SUP Yoga by DFW Surf Club. Imagine practicing your yoga moves on a beautiful lake while the sun is setting. Namaste!
With classes in Little Elm, Frisco and Grapevine, DFW Surf has a team of professional instructors ready to help students of all levels. What I liked about the SUP yoga class I attended was that the session was modeled after its participants. All of us in the class were newbies to SUP Yoga minus the instructor, so we stuck to basic yoga moves. I do admit it was trickier to do some of the poses since we were balancing on a board floating on water – but that made the class even more exciting and challenging!
Just throw on your swimsuit and/or other water-ready attire, and you’re ready to go. All equipment is provided when you attend the class. Each class lasts about an hour, and you can register online. Drop-in rates are $30, memberships start at $49/month, and a pack of five classes is $99. If you have Class Pass, you can now enroll in SUP yoga classes!
Prior experience is not required, but basic swimming skills are. (We stayed in shallow waters though.) Choose from the following classes:
SUP Yoga Basics – designed for first timers
Sunsets – a relaxing SUP yoga while the sun sets
Adventures – a different adventure each class including Bike2Yoga, Hike2Yoga, Paddle2Yoga and more
