Athletic clothing company Soffe Apparel may ring a bell. (Remember wearing the cute and colorful shorts back in middle school or high school?) Since February 2015, the brand has added an array of athletic clothes and accessories for youths and young adults (boys included). The product is more sophisticated, with top-quality fabric, technology and performance.
Soffe recently launched The US Project (#TheUsProject movement) – a movement bringing people together. These days, many of us are collaborating together – whether it’s attending those a group fitness classes, joining a running club or training for a 5K and many more fitness activities. Soffe encourages girls and boys to take the collaboration even further in your daily lives, such as at school, work and at home. Being in a group encourages every individual to work harder and inspire each other to surpass your goals.
A few of my friends and I meet up once a week for a different fitness activity. Sometimes we’re at the gym toning up our arms and abs, while taking a break from the typical cardio workouts. Other times, we’re outside running the trails by the lake. We also pop into a free yoga class in the mall to get some much needed zen.
Whatever we end up doing that week, the group activity keeps us motivated and pushes us past our boundaries. When I’m with my friends, they challenge me to lift a slightly heavier dumbbell than normal, or to run half a mile longer. These girls push me to become a more confident and poised person, and I do the same for them. I wouldn’t have been able to meet – and pass – my fitness goals if I wasn’t consistently seeing them. The strength is really in us as a team!
Did you know more than 1 million selfies are posted each day? Social media platforms are incredibly image-based in today’s world, and the pictures force people to take a closer look at themselves – more than what they may want to see. These selfies aren’t always encouraging. Young girls may think they’re not beautiful or fit enough and become obsessed with an image that doesn’t reflect their true inner self.
Soffe is here to help change that mindset by encouraging people to join #TheUsProject. Girls of all ages can use social media to bring them together in this movement. Social media connects millions of users instantly, so let’s take advantage of the apps to build each other up! Soffe encourages young girls to forget the “me” and think of the “we.” So gather around your friends, family and loved ones. Together, we can all make a more beautiful, unique group picture and ditch the annoying selfie.
It’s easy for you and your friends to be a part of the Soffe movement, too! Here’s how to enter the contest to win free apparel from the company’s #TheUsProject:
