What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas

We’re heading straight to Sin City for our first road trip. It may be an obvious choice, but there’s no better place to go for a weekend of indulgence. Take to Nevada on the highway before glamming up for an evening in the casino. It can be as raucous, or not-so raucous as you like, but paying a visit to one of Vegas’ most popular clubs is a must. You can recuperate in the morning with a relaxing massage or spa treatment, before hitting the road back home.

Napa Valley – California wine tasting

Perfect for a long weekend of rest and relaxation, the Napa Valley offers luxury accommodation, a choice of over 400 wineries, and even a complimentary champagne breakfast. If you’re feeling active, you can rent a bike to tour the vineyards, or, if you’d rather, take to the skies for a hot air balloon ride. Napa Valley is accessible via five airports, each approximately an hour and a half’s drive away. Rent a car at the airport, to make your visit a true road trip wine tour.

Hawaii

If you’ve ever needed an excuse to visit Hawaii, this is it. Take a trip to the beautiful ‘Big Island’ and visit the Kilauea; an active volcano. You can hire a car to explore the stunning and varied island landscape in, or simply soak up some rays in one of the idyllic beaches. There are also smaller islands to visit, such as Maui or Oahu if you’re looking for something a little more low-key.

Southern adventure

If all you need is good food, good company and some homely southern hospitality, then a road trip from Savannah to Charleston is what you’re after. Soak up the southern lifestyle and stop over in Beaufort to recharge. Take to highway 17 on your second day, and stop off at the Charleston tea plantation (the place responsible for Firefly sweet tea vodka). Treat yourself to a hearty meal when you reach Charleston, and save yourself a third day for exploring.

New York City

Planning a girls trip to the Big Apple should be easy for any SATC fans. With so much to see and do, it’s a good idea to set aside four days for your visit, so you can fit everything in. Watch a Broadway show, dine at the Hard Rock Cafe and stroll through Central Park in the city that never sleeps. You could watch a Burlesque show at The Cutting Room, or spend the day shopping on 5th Avenue. The choices really are endless. Although this one doesn’t really count as a road trip, we just couldn’t miss it out. No hire car required, just hop in and out of yellow cabs all day to get about!

It’s the perfect excuse to leave the housework, school run and paper work behind. Get your husband on hose duty, and take off for a road trip with the girls. With so many amazing places to visit across the USA, there’s simply no excuses not to!

  1. Love this! I would add to the New York post two things…1) Get lost in the Lower East side, its got the best dives 2) You have to go to Katz’s Deli…pastrami on rye with mustard. It’s a win, win.
